When you study, your brain uses a lot of energy. Actually, even though it makes up just 2% of your body weight, when you study, your brain can consume as much as 20 - 30% of your total energy intake.
Glucose is the fuel that your brain needs to be able to think, and your body generates glucose from what you eat and drink. If your levels of glucose run low you will think more slowly, which means that if you study Thai, you will learn the language more slowly.
This is not good, as our goal AND your goal is for you to learn fast.
To study Thai while your glucose levels are low is a waste of time as your long-term memory will not function optimally. We know that our Thai lessons use a lot of your brain fuel, and that your levels of glucose will dip after a certain time. We don't want that to happen and that's why we have introduced:
The brain-friendly snack break is a 20-minute break between your two main study blocks of the day. If your first lesson starts at 08:30, your break will come around 10:10. Your snack will consist of a plate of fruit - more than enough to refuel your energy but not so much that your digestive system makes you sleepy.
The snack is prepared and ready a minute before break time:
To refill your energy levels quickly, we provide watermelon, which converts to glucose quickly. However, in order to ensure that the benefits of the snack last all the way through the next study block, we also provide pineapple and banana, which generate glucose more slowly, over a longer period of time. The additional vitamins and minerals you receive from the fruit are an added bonus.
We are committed to providing you with the best Thai language course possible, and our brain-friendly snack helps you to maintain stable glucose levels, which in turn helps you to learn Thai quickly and easily.
